Myself and husband treated ourselves to this hotel for our anniversary. It was the perfect mid -week break and what a treat - so relaxed, comfortable and contemporary. The dinner was fantastic, the room was nice and cozy. We would go back to this hotel in a heartbeat. We felt we got a really good deal with the B&B and dinner included.

Mary scored 4 / 5 on 17/12/2012

We had a very enjoyable stay at the newpark hotel. I had asked for a room on the ground floor and was facilitated. did not get time to use the spa and pool as we were attending a wedding during our stay. An excellent hotel with all the comforts anyone could wish for. excellent hotel and would definitely go back and recommend to a friend. There were no differences in facilities to us on a Lidl break to those who has paid the current rate in the Hotel which was nice to see. Have previously stayed in a hotel from another offer website and definitely felt a different standard our bedroom even was in the basement. Well done, we enjoyed ourselves.

Mary scored 4 / 5 on 06/11/2012

Trica scored 4 / 5 on 16/09/2012

We stayed at his hotel for 2 nights mid-week break, the hotel itself was situated 15 mins walk from the city which we found was a pleasant walk in and out, the bedrooms were well laid out although I did find the beds had an extra quilt like cover over the mattress and under the sheet , this made the beds very warm and sweaty and to be honest I have slept in more comfortable beds, I awoke both mornings with a sore back. The leisure and spa were very nice and I treated myself to the signature spa , it was lovely but if I had to find fault it was with the scalp treatment as it was a dry massage but everything else was great , a beautiful afternoon tea was included which was very delicately served with ample portions and choice. The staff were very efficient and pleasant and we would consider a break here again.

Karen scored 4 / 5 on 14/09/2012

The location of the hotel was within walking distance to the town which was great. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that your stay was everything you hoped for. The food at the hotel was very tasty and the leisure facilities were terrific.

Eimstar scored 4 / 5 on 13/09/2012

We stayed for two nights at the Newpark Hotel in Kilkenny. The hotel itself was really nice and the staff too. The only black mark is the price of the internet access. There is a computer situated in the lobby and in order to check emails you have to spend about 3 or 4 euro for twenty minutes. Considering the hotel reception area probably has wifi I found that a bit steep in this day an age and we had to pay 25 cents to print a sheet which didn't print in the end. Apart from that it was all good!

Emma scored 4 / 5 on 10/09/2012

My husband and I visited Newpark hotel on the 28 th June for our 15 th wedding anniversary and had brilliant time in the hotel and in Kilkenny city . I would recommend this hotel to everybody especially for the price that we paid. Only 98 euro for two of us that is for one night bed and breakfast plus two course dinner.

Des scored 4 / 5 on 30/06/2012

this is the first time we have booked through lidl breaks and were unsure what to expect.we arrived mid afternoon and were warmly greeted at reception and told what was available the people could not have been more helpfull .super room what you expect from 4 star.went down to check the menu for dinner as this was included in our package thinking if it doesnt look good we will go into town. we looked at the menu and there was plenty to choose from we had a meal that you would be happy to have in a good restaurent anywhere a few drinks in the bar off to bed a good nights sleep and a great breakfast we will back.

Excellent Hotel, rooms are very spacious and spotless. Only negative was that the room was very warm making it difficult to sleep. Breakfast was excellent but found 2 of breakfast staff unfriendly. Bar food was excellent. Free access to pool, sauna, infinity pool a bonus. 15 min walk to shops, and train station about 10 mins. Will definitely be back, and will definitely be booking again Through Lidl Breaks...€39 pps B&B is great value for this hotel.

Rococo scored 5 / 5 on 20/03/2012

This hotel is beautiful. Tastefully decorated with very comfortable and well equipped rooms. The staff were very obliging and helpful as well as relaxed and laid back which helped to give the Newpark an air of tranquility and peacefulness. our package included evening meal, which was superb as was the buffet breakfast. We couldn't fault the place and we're already planning another visit to Kilkenny and we'll be staying in the Newpark for sure!

EXCELLENT HOTEL, EXCELLENT VISIT HOTEL IS UPGRADING CONTINUALLY BEDROOM, BAR, DINING ROOM ,GYM SWIMMINGBPOOL WERE ALL VERY GOOD ONLY 2 SMALL PROBLEMS 1 HOTEL HAS ONLY1 TV SET RECEIVING SKY SPORTS. WE WERE THERE ON A BUSY SATURDAY FOR SPORTS AND THE BARMAN HAD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN RUGBY AND SOCCER SUPPORTERS REQUESTS, RESULTING IN MANY DISSAPOINTED FANS AND SOME ARGUMENTS BETWEEN GUESTS AS TO WHAT SHOULD BE SHOWN. 2 BAR HAD NO TOMATO JUICE FOR BLOODY MARYS, AND NO RITZ THESE PROBLEMS WERE RELATIVELY MINOR AND WOULD NOT STOP US FROM RETURNING. WE HAD A MOST ENJOYABLE STAY

Slats scored 4 / 5 on 23/01/2012

i went to the newpark last weekend with my partner we really enjoyed our stay . There was one thing we were unhappy with . The room service charge was five euro per person i think this is a bit much as all i wanted was a sandwich so i would have had to pay a tenner for one sandwich !! On the other hand the breakfast was fab !!! could have done with some pudding but other than that we really enjoyed it. We would defo pay a return visit and i will be recommending it to my friends and family :)

excellent hotel-very attentive staff, excellent food both at breakfast and dinner. very welcoming both on arrival- mince pies and mulled wine and on departure- gifts from the spa. room in old part of hotel , a little dated but comfortable. leisure centre very relaxing. Lidl braks are great value and this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in.

Irishjellytot scored 2 / 5 on 05/12/2011

While the hotel itself was beautiful, i felt the room was very basic for a four star hotel, the bathroom (particularly the bath shower) were tiny, the hairdryer fell apart when I picked it up, the food was medicore to say the least and breakfast was a disorganised disastour area, self service - scattered around, plates were boiling hot with no trays available, little supply of everything. Qutie disappointed.

My husband, our 2 year old son and I stayed in the Newpark Hotel in November of 2011. The hotel and leisure centre staff were very friendly and helpful to us at all times. The hotel and leisure centre are clean and the family room was spacious and well equipped. The buffet breakfast was fantastic. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and our rate was very good value. I woudl definitely return to the hotel.

My friend and I stayed in the Newpark Hotel last Sunday night. We had a very pleasant stay. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean though the shower was faulty. The breakfast was terrific and the other meals we had were good also. The staff both at reception and in the restaurant were friendly, efficient and very welcoming. The check- in was so easy with no hassle as was the check-out. We will definitely use lidlbreaks again. Thank you.

We stayed at the newpark on oct 16th for 1 night, have to say myself and two friends had a fab time. However, I would suggest you bring some bottled water with you as my friend was charged euro 5.20 in the bar for a bottle of ballygowan water, what a rip off. Spa is fab and whole hotel spotless.Food in bar excellent.

Catherine scored 4 / 5 on 16/10/2011

Loved our stay at the Newpark. The room was perfect, the bed ultra comfortable and the flat screen tv was ideal for when himself was snoring!!! The evening meal and breakfast deserve 5 stars. The leisure centre was absolutely great. We can't wait to return.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights to mark our anniversary. Very nice hotel. When we checked in, the room we were given had a strong smell of natural gas. We told the girl who checked us in and without hesitation she told us to go have a drink in the bar and that she would take care of everything. Ten Minutes later she arrived in the bar with new room keys and offered to have our bags moved for us. Excellent service from genuinely nice and friendly staff. The food was delicious with very generous portions and the staff were very helpful in suggesting good pubs in town with traditional music. Breakfast was delicious. I would have no hesitation recommending this hotel to friends, family and Lidl Breaks customers. Excellent value for money.

I have just come back from Newpark Hotel, I travelled with my husband and 2 children (age 3 and 6). The hotel is lovely hotel, infinity pool a must. Breakfast was average. And the main pool could do with some work. Saying all this i would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Declan scored 2 / 5 on 20/08/2011

appeared more like a three star on arrival. In dire need of refurbishment along the corridoors and the carpets and chairs etc were really dirty, as were the curtains iin our room. We also were not aware of the strict embargo on kids using the pool after 7 pm which was disappointing as we were asked to leave the pool with our 4 year old daughter who was in the baby pool and no one else was even in the main pool, because of this rule. She had just put her toe in and was crying with disappointment. On the upside though the vitality pool looked lovely and the food in the restaurant wasn't too bad. The waitress was very clued in and genuinely nice and the breakfast the next morning was second to none. Worth the money but the website photos were much more appealing than the reality unfortunately.

We arrived just after 3, the girl on reception was really nice and friendly. She directed us to our room. We were staying in the old part of the hotel. If we had of know it was such a long way from reception we would have hired a taxi. Room was small but tidy. There were 3 of us staying and only towels for 2. We had to ask for extra. Our main gripe with this hotel is the swimming pool. The pool is not properly supervised. There was one cross looking girl who popped in every now and then. One morning we were there for 2 hours and we didn't see any one supervising the pool. There is only one light working in the pool and if you stand by it and look down you can see why there is only one light working. The pool is filthy. There are bits of tissue paper floating around with other particles. We noticed this on our last day. I have since developed an infection in both my eyes. I can't say this is down to the pool. We went for breakfast and were seated and promptly left there without anyone asking us if we would like tea or coffee. A small group of Americans came in after us and were seated by the same person and were chatted to and fussed over and asked if they would like tea or coffee. The next morning we knew to ask before we were seated. I'm not finding fault for the sake of it but if you are going to treat people then treat them the same. We got the impression that there was one way to treat Irish guests and another to treat over seas guests. On a plus side the spa pool was great and the view in the garden of the big old tree was very relaxing. The kids club upstairs was great. The girls there were fab with our daughter and she couldn't leave without us signing her out. She really enjoyed her time there. Safety for our daughter is a big thing for us. The guys and girls in the bar were very helpful with getting us heated milk for our daughter. The question is would we stay again. We booked this hotel because we have a 4 year old and we wanted a hotel with a pool so my answer is no.

Good evening. I attended a wedding reception at the Newpark Hotel recently. Great day. The staff were so pleasant and helpful. No delay at check in. Very efficient. The meal was beautiful. Rooms were bright, spacious and very comfortable. Would most definitely recommend this hotel. Although, would have to say that the price of alcohol/minerals was really way too expensive. €4.25 pint of guinness?? €2.60 for 7up etc.

Really enjoyed my stay in Kilkenny - Hotel is currently being refurnished, however, myself and my sisters were placed in the older area - was a little disappointed at first, however, the friendly staff made up for it - staff could not do enough for us and on paying the bill, I received a small token, for booking with them, which was very nice, so all in all a very pleasant stay and I will return.

Excellent value break at the NewPark Hotel in Kilkenny. Good sized family room, and great facilities for kids - play room, playground, pool etc. Additional requests granted without fuss. Topped off with a complimentary gift on departure.

Hotel was quiet but despite that, the breakfast was a fabulous display of everything from smoked salmon to georgeous fruit and of course the usual fry alternatives. We booked about four hours before arriving and we arrived late. Reception staff were very pleasant and the bedroom was spacious. The hotel has lovely and spacious reception areas for sitting around, really nice. I'd stay there again.

Our stay was only for one night. The food in the bistro was superb and the waitress was very clued into what gluten free means. Wasn't as impressed by the standard of food for breakfast but it was still good. We didn't use the leisure facilities so can't comment on those. Our only small gripe would be was that we mentioned at time of booking one of party was coeliac and requested that gluten free cereal be available. It wasn't. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Overall great value for money and would return for a similar offer.

Stayed here for two nights recently with my boyfriend. Really got value for your money here. Because of the price, we were expecting a tiny basic room. The room we got, if it was there basic was lovely! Can’t fault the room at all. All the staff was very accommodating and friendly. The only downfall i found was the food section, room service menu charging %u20AC5 per person per room, so if i wanted a soup...id be paying nearly %u20AC10. It kind of takes away from wanting to tip the porter at all. If it was a charge of %u20AC5 per room that would be fine. We also thought the room service menu would be slightly varied to the bar/ restaurant menu. It wasn’t at all. While everything on the menu is nice, just about everything on it was fused with an ingredient i wouldn’t usually eat. (I recommend the fish cakes...) It would be nice if the menu had one or two other basic dishes to its list. (The most basic dish on the menu at the moment is the cod and chips) Overall, I would definitely go back to that hotel!

Hi, I stayed just one night in Newpark hotel on March 18th with my sister and mother. Although the room we had was a good distance from reception and not in the more updated section of the hotel we had a lovely night and the staff were lovely, food too. I tried to upgrade to a more superior room but all the rooms were taken, nevertheless we had a great time and I must take this opportunity to congratulate Lidl for these fantastic value breaks. Well done! I'll definitely book more breaks through Lidl.

Hi, stayed in The Newpark Hotel, Kilkenny, on Thur 17th March and Fri 18th March 2011. The value for money was excellent, both nights bed and breakfast rate of %u20AC35 per person per night, hard to believe that rate for such a lovely hotel. In particular I loved the outdoor Vitality Pool but equally the breakfast was lovely, would recommend this hotel and will certainly book again via the Lidl website.

The Hotel was lovely, staff were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. Plenty of choices and the breakfast being a buffet was perfect. We took full advantage of the Spa and really enjoyed the pool and outdoor Hot Tub, even in November! I think Lidl breaks are great value and this is my 2nd time to use them and I will use again and again. Good choice of Hotels with great value for money. I think our Hotel was a bit confused about the entitlement to tea/coffee. Although the website says 2 courses plus tea/coffee we were charged for it. I have e-mailed them (Sat) but have got no answer. Thanks again for a great service, keep it up. Carmel mc Sweeney

I would highly recommend the Newpark Hotel in Kilkenny. The staff were extremely attentive and very friendly. The food was delicious and reasonable. It was served in the Bar and I was disappointed at this as I would like to have dressed up in the evening but it didn't lend itself to this. The pool/gym facilities were terrific and a very pleasant ambiance throughout this hotel. Fantastic value for money. I would most definitely stay in the Newpark again.

We stayed in the Newpark for 2 nights at end of August 2010 with our 5 year old daughter. Nice hotel, very friendly staff and the food was excellent. Nice leisure centre also. Only one issue, we arrived back at the hotel at about 2 45pm on the first day hoping to have a nice lunch in the Bar/Bistro and were told only soup and sandwiches were avaiabale until 3pm. We though this was very poor. However, overall we were very happy with the stay and it was great value through the Lidl Breaks.

Me and my daughter are just back from the Newpark Inn in Kilkenny. The hotel was fine. Nothiing exceptional though to make it a four star. I was treating my friend and her daughter so there was four of us and we had asked for a family room which we got but a family room is one double bed and one single bed which is just ridiclous. Since when is a family room one double bed and a single bed. I have 3 children and a husband which is now considered a large family and this is the first time i have come across this They put in a camper bed in the room but they are very uncomfortable. The Silver Springs in Cork would put it to shame with its big beds 3 of them and big bathroom. The food was lovely though and they gave us four courses and did hand us a differant menu. The pool was fine and was clean. The hotel is old and is trading I think on its past reputation. Value for money though was excellant. A. Burke Rahtfarnham

Great hotel, very child friendly, spa/pool area great- especially the outdoor pool and the relaxation room. The food was excellent. Lovely little outdoor play area for younger children (- would be even better if it was fenced off). Friendly staff. Only minor gripe was that they did not have enough high chairs to cater for all the little guests there at the time. Great value overall- would go back

My husband and I recently stayed at the Newpark Hotel for a one night break. We found everything about the hotel first class. The room was comfortable and our request for a quiet room was granted. The dinner was lovely and the selection for breakfast was very impressive. The highlight for me was the outdoor hot tub, it was very relaxing. Well done to Lidl breaks, its the third one I have had this year and find them value for money

My wife and I went to the Newpark for a one night break : the food was very good, in particular the range of choices in the breakfast buffet was impresive. We used the Spa and massage treatment and thought it was first class. The Lidl breaks website is very user friendly and so is the cost of the break. Well done Colm Murphy

on 1st impressions everything seemed fine till are room was given to us it was very far away an as im 8mnths pregnant found this there was a laundry room right outside our room. the room was very small indeed i thought abt asking for another room but we were only there for night. the meal was even worse as the starter of atlantic parcel was dry an pre cooked, the mash was gluey an the vegtables over cooked. the pork was dry an the seabass smoothered in so much sauce you couldnt taste it. we didnt even opt for dessert as enough was enough, everything was pre cooked. the flowers that filld the lobby were dead an wilted. i dont think i would opt again for a room in newpark hotel.
