Will book to stay in Breaffy House in Future Woods hotel provided us with room 3018 1. No chairs to sit on in room no table 2. Very limited drawer space, 3. Breakfast on Saturday morning in Mulberry Restaurant Breaffy House Hotel was far superior to that provided in Woods Hotel restaurant on Sunday morning.

Another amazing stay at Breaffy Woods Hotel. From the minute you arrive you are greeted by a friendly smile at reception. The rooms are basic and could do with a revamp but they are clean, comfortable, warm and big. We went with our 5 and 8 year old and the entertainement was great. From the lovely girls at the breakfast club to the great entertainment at night ... Captain Jack and his team are always a big hit. The only thing we found disappointing was the variety of food available in the evening and options on the menu for vegetarians. The mushroom pasta is nice but would like more options. This is our 4th time at the hotel and we will be back again for sure. Thanks again to the amazing staff at the hotel and leisure centre .... we will see you again soon :) Thanks Today FM Breaks too great value for a nice family break away.

When I arrived at the Woods hotel I was advised that booking had been moved to the House hotel. It would have been nice if I had been informed in advance rather finding out when checking in. Still my stay in the House hotel was nice. Nice room and friendly staff. The waitress in the Mulberry Restaurant was truly excellent and without doubt one of the most pleasant and helpful servers I've ever encountered. The swimming pool was in a good condition and the staff in the leisure centre were helpful and friendly. Would stay here again.

I recently stayed in this hotel with my dad who was in a wheelchair. The room which was room 1001 which was the closest room to reception. The room was very spacious with a double bed and a single bed.The decor was quiet modern. The room had a tea/coffee facility. The breakfast was really nice. The bar which was on the 1st floor. It was nice but very quiet. The fantastic price we got on the hotel was all thanks to lidl . We then went across the car park to the sister hotel, Breaffy House hotel which was buzzing. Their was live music which was excellent. The leisure centre was nice and relaxing. The staff were friendly. The only small complaint was that when people are outside the hotel talking, they were near our window. Thanks all the same.

I was very happy with the friendly staff in the hotel and how clean the hotel and the rooms were. The family room was adequate size and as the kids went free in the room we had to pay a small charge of €5 per child for each breakfast which was well worth it. The food in both the Woods hotel and the Resort hotel was lovely. The Woods hotel was very quiet so we spent some time in the Resort Hotel using the facilities. We were happy will all of the facilities. The outside kids activities etc were a bit smaller than we expected especially the playground. Also the outside of the hotel in places needed so touching up painting wise etc but that might have been on the cards to do given that were were there in May. Overall i would definitely return as it was good value for money.

Lovely clean room. Kids loved the Kids Club games and disco, girls were very good at replacing burst balloons! Swimming pool was excellent, staff very vigilant and friendly. Only found out about the 'football' behind reception on the last day, and didn't find kids activity place in The Woods or Crazy Golf. Breakfast was great, perhaps a little warmer. Overall, a brilliant weekend.

Had a great time here, room was very clean and comfortable. The kids entertainment was brilliant, they really enjoyed it. We didnt like the food in the restaurant and the breakfast, very basic and overpriced for what we got and we were left waiting half an hour for our dinner. The pool was nice, a little bit cold in the dressing rooms. We would still come back as the kids really enjoyed it.

Good Location, good for kids, friendly staff, nice food but basic carvery food, not much choice, very squeaky bed.. springs definately sprung in it.. games room was filthy and broken glass in it (hence 3 stars) but we had a good weekend, kids loved the evening entertainment.. we did not use the kids club but if we were staing longer, we probably would, swimming pool area lovely.. grounds lovely

People smoking at main entrance all day cigarette butts all over the ground it was disgusting and on Sunday morning after a wedding there the night before empty beer bottles on the ground outside at 11.30am. Not a good impression for families as we had our 4 year old with us. My husband ordered a burger in the bar no sauce on it so dry and the black pudding was missing. We asked for salt and pepper eventually we got it. Breakfast was lovely have to say. I wouldn't go back in afraid.

Stayed here on Saturday night and had a pleasant stay. The room was massive with a double and 3 single beds. Wifi was available in the public areas and was quite strong. The bar was shut however the sister hotel was next door and was open and we went there. It was busy and buzzing and enjoyable. Overall I would have scored it a 8 out of 10

When we arrived she we got overcharged, she forgot to take off deposit, then she asked us for €5 per child for breakfast and €10 per dinner for child which we didn't mind and she still over charged us by a couple of euros but didn't mind because we were still getting a bargain. Breakfast was ok but man that showed us to our seat was very cheerful which was nice to see. On the following day at dinner we went up to pay for our drinks and they tried charging us for an extra soup that no one ordered. The next day we got locked out of our rooms and when my sister checked out they said she hadn't paid up fully but she explained to the reception staff that we paid fully on the day we arrived and other things we paid as we got. Then when we checked out the following day. The receptionist said that there was a query on our bill and needed to call the supervisor this to me was the last straw I told her then of how we were treated, overcharged and locked out of our rooms she asked us the ages of the children and how many adult which was 5 adults and 6 children aged 10, 8, 8, 7, 6, and 3. She just apologised for us getting locked out and said we are paid up full and other than that did we enjoy our stay we said we did only for what happened. I will say that there was one receptionist who was very nice who helped us on the morning of the 30th July. We will not be staying here again. Mayo is a great place to visit though.

Stayed in Breafy Woods Hotel with a large family group (Grandparents, Parents and children of various ages) and everyone thoroughly enjoyed they're time. The hotel was excellent value for money, catering for both young and old. There was also a lot to do regardless of the weather and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Great day, will defiantly be staying again.

Sabs scored 4 / 5 on 21/07/2015

A really nice family friendly place to stay. We were in a large group and the kids had a great time with the kids club/discos. The pool was really nice and there was even a mini crazy gold. It was also nice that there were two hotels on site one that specialised in the families (woods) and the other catered more for adults (house). You could use facilities for both hoever kids are only allowed in the Woods Hotel Bar. I think this is a great idea as it suited both families and couples. I will certainly return.

Jennifer scored 5 / 5 on 21/07/2015

The hotel was brilliant and the kids where kept entertained all day. Food was o.k .the room we stayed in was very noisy but that wouldn't put me off staying again. I paid my deposit in the LIDL website of €60 thinking I only had to pay €279 on arrival for 2ad&2ch 3 nights breakfast and dinner only to be told when I arrived non of the kids meals are included so I ended up having to pay €360 even though I didn't arrive to the hotel till late and missed the evening meal .the price and terms should be made clearer .however overalls good stay at breaffy woods

We stayed in the woods hotel for 3 nights but our experience was so good we stayed for 1 extra night . The kids entertainment was excellent , the staff at the hotel were brilliant to kids and parents and no task was too much to ask . The rooms wee high standard and food was lovely . We have found a place to stay next year with this hotel and will stay longer if possible as the deal through lidl was exceptional . 5 stars from us !!!

We had a nice stay at the Breaffy Woods Hotel. The appearance of corridors could do with an upgrade. Maybe a bit of paint & a bit more attention to hovering around the edges etc. The room itself was sufficient. We had a little kitchenette which was useful except the fridge was a bit on the hot side!!!! The shower had a curtain around it however this was a disaster as it led to the floor being flooded if you weren't careful in the shower. Overall the facilities were good and the breakfast was very nice.

Just back from a family weekend in Breaffy Resort. We stayed in Breaffy Woods, rooms were very clean and comfortable. Great facilities onsite. We only ate breakfast in Breaffy Woods Hotel as restaurant was basic and in need of a revamp. Both the restaurant and bar food in Breaffy House however were absolutely fabulous. Staff in both hotels extremely helpful. Overall a great hotel for a family break three of the families had young children and Breaffy Woods was ideal for us but I would recommend that couples or families with teenagers stay in Breaffy House.

Calli scored 2 / 5 on 12/05/2015

I was a bit disappointed by our stay as previously we had stayed in Breaffy House and found it very good. Our room was perfectly adequate, but the breakfast room was unappealing and run down looking. The breakfast was not very good. The dinner was also very basic and the dining room was like a crèche. I realise that it is a family resort but maybe there should be a separate dining area for people with young children or a time allocated for family dining.

Great spot for families & plenty to do in the hotel & surrounding areas.

Mark scored 3 / 5 on 20/08/2014

There was no doubt that the hotel was value for money. The only thing that I would find fault with was that the restaurant was more like a canteen and there was absolutely no privacy to enjoy a meal in comfort.

Clumsymumsy scored 5 / 5 on 16/08/2014

We have been looking at this hotel online for a couple of years and had fancied it and we are so glad that we did. There is a fantastic kids club that starts with the breakfast train in the morning, they collect the children from your room at 9am and then they do games for an hour, arts and crafts for an hour and cookery for an hour. We collect them again at 1pm. Then in the evening the entertainment starts at 6pm in the bar. There is a corner allocated to a big screen and seats for the showing of a movie. Then at 7.30 when the movie is over there is a kid’s disco which rivals those in Spanish resorts, it was absolutely fantastic and our girls were dancing all night long. While the kids disco is on there is also extras like face painting/tattoos, hair chalking, balloon modelling and a candy buffet, all for an extra cost. The disco ends at 9pm and you can stay in that bar or move to the other hotel for live music with the kids if you like. Dinner was lovely. Breakfast is until 10.30am. Wifi is available in the reception of Breaffy Woods Hotel but does not stretch much beyond the reception area, it is also only available in the reception area of Breaffy House Resort which is the hotel closest to the kids club and where we waited with a cup of tea/coffee for them to finish at 1pm. The swimming pool is nice. There’s a steam room and Jacuzzi too. Very clean with lots of floaty toys for the kids to use while in there. Towels are available to borrow for no extra charge. Castlebar town is approximately 2km from the resort so it’s a drive, unless you are into a good walk. The kids really enjoyed the holiday and when we collected them from the kids club they begged us to see if there was a room available for that night, so we did and there was and we stayed a second night too - and are begging for us to return again which we plan to do.

My husband and I stayed her with our two kids aged 3 and 5. We have already booked to go again, food in the House Hotel is great and a real treat. Kids menu is very reasonable and one thing that really stood out was the friendliness of the staff in both the Woods Hotel and the House Hotel. In particular I'd have to mention Shirley at reception in the House Hotel - couldn't deal with a nicer person, so helpful. The facilities are excellent with something to do even of you get bad weather

Mary scored 2 / 5 on 09/08/2014

Hotel staff pleasant and friendly. Rooms were clean but bar, hallway and especially lift in need of cleaning and upgrade as there was a terrible odour. Breakfast was basic. Nice location and very family friendly. 2 star rating

Nick scored 3 / 5 on 07/08/2014

Great hotel for families with young kids. Kids are well looked after. Hotel is a bit shabby in places and a lick of paint or new carpets would help. Leisure Centre is very good, but again a revamp would help, this too is beginning to look old and shabby.

Colette scored 3 / 5 on 03/08/2014

wifi was not available in most of the hotel, i would not recommend going for breakfast after 8.45am as it was extremely busy after that. The Breaffy woods was very geared toward younger children. The grounds on the hotel were fab, swimming pool was excellent. We found that the Breafy House hotel was more suitable for us. Overall we had a lovely holiday, Thank you.

I didnt realise that when i initailly booked & paid the deposit (non refundable) that it would not be deducted from total cost of staying @ the hotel !!!!!!!!!! All i did was pay "bargain breaks " for the facility of booking my holiday - & would have saved it had i booked directly with the hotel..... NEVER EVER AGAIN !!

Jo scored 1 / 5 on 22/07/2014

I'm giving this hotel one star for its children's disco...and that's it. My husband, my toddler and I, along with a couple of other families with young children, spent a night there recently. While the rooms were big, and the grounds quite nice, the hotel itself was dull, depressing, and utterly stripped of character. While I could have gotten over the hard pillows and unsound-proofed walls, it was the food and service that got me. When ordering dinner in the main bar upstairs, along with the two other families, our mains came almost immediately, cold and tasting suspiciously like hospital food, while the rest of the table waited for their starters. We couldn't get the attention of the staff of young men running around like headless chickens, and when we did, we had to wait another hour or hour and a half for our desert. It was the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel/bar/restaurant - in fact, any establishment serving food. There seemed to be no one in charge of the five of so college-age lads who were running the show. When I mentioned it politely to the girl at reception on checking out, she replied, 'Yeah, the chef is just here for the summer, and was really stressed out.' There was a little 'sorry 'bout that' at the end of the conversation, but it came across that she felt more sorry for the 'poor chef'. And that was it. The kids entertainment was cute, and kept them busy and having fun, but what a woeful experience for the parents!

I stayed iwith my sister inn the Breaffy Woods Hotel for 3 nights on 7th 8th and 9th July. We checked in at 15.40 to find that some rooms had not been cleaned. When we went to our room I discovered there was no bath and so I rang the Receptionist to see if we could get a twin with a Bath. She said not to use the room and she would call me back. An hour later I still had not heard from her and I went downstairs to see that the Receiptionist Helene was on her own with quite a queue of people. I called her from the room and she apologised and said she had forgotton. I said we would stay in the room for 1 night and would appreciate her changing us for the other 2 (this she did the following morning). The room we were allocated on the first night had what I thought was a wardrobe but was a cupboard that housed some type of boiler which appeared to have been leaking as it had a bucked with stagnant water in it (room 2006). It did have another wardrobe. When we went to the Leisure Centre we were told that neither the Jacussi or Steam Room were working. The staff at Reception were unaware of this. For our 3 night stay they remained broken and I see from a review written on the 14th, a week later, they still remain broken. One of the main factors for me staying in a Hotel is their leisure facilities and unfortunately these were not available. People should be made aware of this on booking and certainly on check in. On checking out we were not asked if we enjoyed our stay. I certainly would not stay in this Hotel again.

Stayed for 1 night at the Breaffy Woods Hotel (2adults / 2Kids). Room was clean and tidy, decent size , 1 double bed and 2 singles. No room safe. Breakfast was nice , usual options (Full Irish / Continental / Cereals etc) however the evening meal was fairly ordinary. Limited menu and fairly bland - think pub carvery standard - then lower your expectations. Leisure Center was good ... pool was a generous size, as were the changing facilities - although everything was a little dated - could do with a facelift. Steam Room , Sauna and Jacuzzi - all out of order during our stay. Overall it was OK - but I'm not sure I would stay again.

The staff are very young in the hotel, we asked for a pint of milk and a coke, the waiter came down with a pint of milk a coke and a pint bottle of cider??? For the baby we asked for soup and mash, they came down with gravy and mash. The breakfast the next morning was lovely except for the plates of toast which were stone cold, I asked the waiter for fresh toast which would be hot and he looked at me as if I had 2 heads. I got the bill for the coke and left €3 with the bill, when we were checking out the receptionist said there is a drink on your bill, I said we had no drink on the bill, it had worked out to be the coke, I said I paid for that after the meal, so someone obviously thought it was a tip.

We loved our stay in Breaffy woods, the room was lovely and the food was excellent. They had a kiddies club which started the 1st of July, so our little one loved the disco, but what is wrong with Parents they just seem to let there kids loose like wild animals, I think the DJ should be allowed to announce to tell parents to stop there kids running around the place knocking small ones over. Night time was the same children running up and down the corridor and running outside like lunatics. Overall great hotel and will definitely go back.

Lorna scored 2 / 5 on 03/06/2014

If staying at Breaffy I would recommend staying at Breaffy house and not the Breaffy Woods as it is a much nicer, old-style building with character. I found Breaffy woods to be functional but soul-less. We had to go up to the other hotel for dinner and for the bar as these facilities weren't available at Breaffy Woods. The pool (again in the other hotel) is good for kids. The staff in the bar were lovely. Very friendly and helpful. An overcharge on our food account was sorted immediately and very politely. Unfortunately, we had a frustrating experience with someone on the reception desk which is why I have rated at 2 stars. Due to a mix-up or technical issue involving the use of two different payment terminals at Breaffy Woods reception desk, 150e approx. was frozen on my debit card (pre-authorisation at check-in) and was unavailable to me for several days. I called reception about this after we left the hotel and was told that I would have to contact my bank myself to find out how long the funds would be frozen. Finally, it was agreed that the hotel would refund the payment made to my partner's account and pursue the preauthorised payment through my card. I was unapologetically told about the issue of the two terminals and that the funds would not be refunded to my partner's account for 72 hours. Mix-ups can happen but no apology was offered... just a tough luck attitude. I know people can have off days ...but when I emailed the hotel in relation to this issue and my email was ignored I realised that no apology was coming. Poor customer service in my book. I hope the hotel can sort out the issue of the payment terminals so that other guests are not inconvenienced in this way. This left us short of cash for the week and was an inconvenience.

Just spent a night at Breaffy Woods Hotel and found the place clean and the staff very friendly and accommodating. The room was very spacious and had all that we needed. The one thing we didn't like was that, while wifi was available in the reception area, we had no wifi access in the bedroom. Staff in the restaurant were a little disorganised but the food was ok - dinner was included in the package we booked. We were confused about the offer to have dinner in Breaffy House as this wasn't explained in the booking information. The hotel is great value for money and ideal for anyone wanting to explore Mayo and use it as their base.

We had a 2 night stay with our 2 kids plus other family. The grounds are lovely, the Breaffy Woods Hotel is lovely. The room was spacious for the 4 of us even the double room our other family member swere is was lovely. The hotel was clean except for the bar floor in the Woods Hotel. The reception staff were very accomodating and welcoming. Our kids enjoyed the kids club breakfast train. It was lovely to have use of both hotels. The only downside to the stay was that the food in the Woods Hotel restaurant was of a very very poor quality. Only 2 out of 6 ate our meal and yet not once were we asked by staff if everything is ok. On looking around the restaurant there were a good few full plates going back to the kitchen the waiting staff seemed resigned to the fact that the food was very poor. On the menu was a lamb shank yet it was mutton we were served (this meal was not part of the deal we were paying for this!) The breakfast wasn't any better not fresh food at all. Very disappointed with the food. Would recommend he hotel but avoid the restaurant in the Breaffy Woods Hotel.

The rooms were functional, we were disappointed not too have a bath. Paint work could do with freshening up. Breakfast was good apart from the orange juice which tasted more like diluted squash, but we had to go across to Breaffy House for dinner and bar services as they were not available in Breaffy Woods, although it was only a two minute walk it would have been easy to tell us at the time of booking which of the services were actually available at the time of our stay. We were disappointed to arrive back after climbing Croagh Patrick to be told that the jacuzzi and steam room facilities were closed due to it being very quiet.

Stayed at Breaffy Woods Hotel for one night. The room was clean and spacious, we used the leisure centre which again was clean, the staff were very courteous and helpful The breakfast was fantastic and plentiful. I will certainly be returning to Breaffy Woods again and I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend.

The room was ok, clean and tidy and the pool was great. Unfortunately, could not eat anything as the food was just awful! Evening meal choices were really poor- uninspiring, tasteless and poorly presented. Service wasn't good either and in general, nobody seemed like they 1) enjoy what they do, 2) knew what to do, 3) capable of delivering any service whatever. Breakfast was simply shocking- the cold buffet was made up of items that either came out of a box or a tin, no fresh fruit, no gluten-free/ wheat free cereal or bread. The hot food wasn't much better- all looked like its been sitting in the Bain-marie for a bit too long. Decided to just get a couple of fried eggs and some bacon, ended up just having the greasy eggs as the bacon didn't taste so nice. The coffee was drinkable, just. Again- just seemed like nobody knew what to do and the manager was just standing there, looking important while the service staff were running around aimlessly. I did complain to the manager after the evening meal but I don't think it made any impression at all. There was a weird noise in the room (a pump or air condition, kept going on and off) that kept me up all night, the wi-fi kept disconnecting, the bathroom was clean but toilet seat was broken, sink was far too small and low, tap was really stiff.

Dear Sir/Madam, Bridget and I had a enjoyable stay at Breaffy Woods Hotel, no problems checking in or out every thing went like clockwork. The receptionist was very helpful and gave us plenty of information re meal times and the hotel facilities. The room was clean and spacious with a comfortable bed, I would have no problem staying there again. I will give it a 3 star rating. Regards Peter.

I stayed with my mother in Breaffy Woods on 20 and 21 September, 2013. From the moment we arrived to our departure we could not have received better treatment. I am coeliac and there was absolutely no difficulty in accommodating me. The staff were very familiar with the condition and were able to advise me immediately as to the choices available. The room was extremely comfortable and there were towels in abundance which is very important. This was my second visit to Breaffy and will certainly not be my last. Anyone travelling to the West should certainly give serious consideration to staying here. Eleanor Hackett

The staff at this hotel know exactly what excellent customer service is. Linda on reception is a credit to the hotel and all the young ladies in the restaurant were a pure pleasure. No request was too much trouble for any of the staff. Well done to Breaffy Woods, it would be a pleasure to return.

We recently stayed here for the last weekend of the school summer holiday. The room and grounds were lovely and the location was great for our weekend plans. We were in the Woods Hotel and found a major letdown to the place to be the bar.Couldnt fault the staff but the chairs were filthy with big stains and who chose the carpet-big stripes that looked like a parking zone or an invitation to kids to run up and down.Breakfast was great, but a request for toast gave me two slices plonked on top of the meal.I have never experienced this before.Great value for money, but with a bit more cleaning and attention to detail could be exceptional value.Mary from Tramore

Great hotel for children, a little disappointed we didn't get to stay in the fab house but did get to have our dinner and breakfast here. Staff could not do enough for us. Food was delicious and plenty of it. Kids loved breakfast train which pick them up from our room at 9 and we collected them at 12 from kids club. Drink was a little overpriced but there was free live entertainment each night...

I stayed in Breaffy Woods hotel 10th – 12th July 2013. Wednesday - Friday with my wife and 1 year old child. We had room 2032 with one double bed and a single bed. We brought our own travel cot so never used the single bed. There was plenty of space in the room for a second single bed if needed. We were facing the back of the hotel which was a plus on this occasion as the sun was gone from our room by 11am. We had a patio door instead of windows which allowed in plenty of air. There was also a full size fridge in the room, these are not in all rooms. There were plenty of activities going on for children but as my son is only 20 months old we did not partake in the kiddies club. The pool / gym / spa are located in their sister hotel, the Breaffy House which is a short walk (2-3 mins) across the car park. The pool was large clean and contained a small kiddie’s pool. The grounds of the hotel were well kept and were ideal for an evening stroll after having dinner. There is free crazy golf, however bring your own golf balls as people availing of this never returned the golf balls to reception after using them. We ate in the Breaffy House Hotel and found the food to be very nice and reasonably priced. We will definitely stay here again. Overall I would rate this hotel higher than a lot of four star hotels that I have stayed in.

Just returned from a 3 night stay in Breaffy Woods - I was travelling with 3 young children 8,6 & 2 and the Kids Club was well ran even though it was not fully operational that weekend due to a Wedding in the Breaffy House Hotel. The Mini disco was a big hit for both adults and children. Rooms were basic but large in size and 5 people fitted comfortably. Rooms cleaned every day. Would recomment the Breaffy Woods but do check the kids club is operational as without this there is not much to due for kids. Thanks Family from Co Louth

Hope to return in Summer with more family members!

A group of six women, we stayed in the Breaffy Wood Hotel last weekend. We were so pleased we had decided on the Breaffy Woods Hotel. We arrived by bus and it was just a five minute walk from the hotel. The rooms were spacious and very clean. We availed of the leisure facilities, which again were very clean and comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant which was very good and the music afterwards was great. Our breakfast was also very good with a good choice of fresh fruit and a cooked alternative. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed the walks through the woods and around the pond area. It felt so safe and the are was very well kept. The most important part of our stay was the staff, the ladies on reception and in the dining room were just so nice and friendly as indeed the staff in the leisure facility. They certainly went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We will definatly be back.

Extremely disappointing stay - arrived Friday Evening to a hotel and room that was absolutely freezing, after two discussions with reception and almost 3 hours later we eventually got moderate heat into the room (it appeared the hotel was only opened for the weekend). The restaurant was closed so we had to dine in the other hotel (Breaffy House), the staff were friendly but the standard of food was pretty poor. The cost of the adult meals (supplement for certain dishes) were included in the weekend break but you pay for the kids. Pool facilities were nice if a little cold and there were activities put on for the kids on Saturday which were very good. The biggest shock came when we went to settle the bill prior to leaving and we were informed that the kids breakfasts were not included and had to be paid seperately (non existant small print), eventually refunded after long discussion. First and last visit !!! (2 Adults & 2 Young Children)

Very happy with our stay. Room spacious and comfortable. Leisure facilities very good. I would have liked to see yoghurts being offered for breakfast, but in fairness, we were late down and, as there were a large amount of young children associated with an intercounty GAA match staying, perhaps they had run out. Could highly recommend, especially for families with younger children.

Was so disappointed with our family new year eve/ day spent. Hotel or grounds hardly decorated and where we ate not as much as a christmas tree or decoration. Food was an absolute disgrace, my main course sent back as cold then returned over done,my husbands looked liked a kids dinner, didnt ever bother to have a dessert. Total let down and as for the entertainment!!!!!!!!!!!! NEW YEARS EVE.............. a disgrace and then to top it all off went to find astro turf football pitch (directions all wrong) my son slipped on all the leaves on bridge and damaged his wrist. Would never return.. 1 star only for the fact the staff were lovely everything else 0 A complete waste of money would have preferred to have stayed at home.

Stayed here for 2 nights on 30th & 31st of Oct, originally booked 2 adults & 2 kids but in the end it was one adult & 2 kids, enquired at the front desk about a refund & was met with pure grumpyness & rudeness & fobbed off completely, still don't know where I stand as regards that. Any assistance on that would be greatly appreciated. The receptionist at check in was extremely serious & unsmiling & hard to understand what he was saying. Maybe we just got them on a bad day! Hotel was fine, room was clean & beds were comfy, was hard to regulate the temperature in the room so at times was v hot. Found the temp in the swimming pool v cold. Breakfast & dinner were fine too.

Excellent facilities for families. We brought our 6 year-old grandson on a 4-night break and couldn't have asked for a better resort for him - from the Breakfast Club to the Games Room, Crazy Golf, kids disco etc. The rooms were very comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. However, we were a bit disappointed in the food and as a vegetarian, there were no veggie breakfast options to speak of - for example no individual yogurts (apart from a big bowl of natural yogurt) no fresh fruit or cheese (just cheeses slices and only one occasion). However, all in all we had a great time in the Breaffy Resort and would definitely recommend it to others. We will definitely book a Lidl Break again as the website was very easy to navigate and gave plenty of information

Went to the Breaffy Woods for one night only for my partner's birthday. The hotel is a bit old fashioned but cosy enough and very clean. Staff are all very customer oriented and friendly. I really liked our room, it was very big, had a sofa and coffee table and a nice view on the green in front of the hotel. Nice leisure facilities, really enjoyed the swimming pool with different types of water massage and the possibility to swim in peace in the dedicated lanes. Sauna, steam room and hot tube are available too. Surroundings quite fascinating and well maintained, very pleasant for walking around. Food: despite the dinner was included in hotelsinone.ie deal, at the time of booking it we were offered to choose between the two hotels, which I was extremely happy about. We preferred to go to the Breaffy House as we felt the menu was better suited for a bit of celebration. The service was extremely professional and friendly (all the floor staff came to sing happy birthday to my boyfriend at dessert time!) and the food was excellent. Breakfast at the Breaffy Woods offers a wide choice, from full Irish to cereals or croissant. On the down side: the bar at the Breaffy Woods was a bit sad. Mostly empty, very bright lights and with a few children running around... not really a fun nor romantic place! Possibly the bar at the Breaffy House would have been more lively (they were having a DJ too), but can't really comment on that. We didn't change as it was raining and didn't feel like going out again but would probably go there the next time. Overall we were very happy with our stay (especially at this price!) and would definitively recommend the place!

Ak scored 3 / 5 on 21/06/2012

Price was reasonable enough, it was hard to distinguish between the two hotels at the resort. Receptionist wasn't very helpful on arrival, room was clean although there were some marks on the walls. There was a shower, no bath in the bathroom. view out the window wasn't the best. Area and grounds around the resort were very nice. In the hotel description it says that there is a tennis court, unfortunately to my dissapointment the tennis court was changed into an astro turf pitch, or so I was told by receptionist anyway. The crazy golf coarse was pretty crazy also, not what i expected and was a bit of a let down as it was only a few patches of cement paving here and there. The breakfast was great, the usual continental i suppose but it was delicous. The swimming pool was good also although the steam room and jacuzzi wern't accesible at my time of visit. Overall a good hotel for a getaway, location is quite good, 5/10 mins from Castlebar. Not too far from Croagh patrick and other attractions...

We had booked a double room and a single room, and when we got there our reservation was down as a family room for three adults. Although there was a big wedding on at the time, we were accommodated with minimum of fuss to the two rooms. Staff were very friendly at all times. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to people.

Just got home after a great week-end break with my wife Jane and our friends Rob and Angela at the Breaffy House Resort in Co Mayo. My family and I stayed for two nights over easter holiday. We altered our reservation and for a little more per night we stayed in a two bedroom lodge. It gave us a lot more comfort as we have three young boys (5,4 and 10 months). The lodge came with a fridge and microwave which was great for feading the baby, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a living area. The 5 year old joined the kids club one morning and had a great time. We also went to the family disco in the evening which for the early part had kids club staff doing dances with the children. We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel. The food and staff were lovely. We also used the swimming pool, it had a large childrens pool. Baby seat and large benches in changing room were great for changing the boys. We had a great holiday and will be back. The only down sides were a few wear and tear maintenance issues with the lodge and the water in the pool and the changing rooms were a bit cold.

Breaffy house has a beautiful exterior surrounding. The rooms are nice and spacious but where always very hot even with the heat turned off and the windows open. The staff in the restaurant where not well trained at all. At breakfast they seem more concerned with helping themselves to the food on the buffet instead of assisting the guests. Each morning I was never asked whether I wanted tea or coffee and when I asked myself I felt like I was putting them out. The staff at reception and In the bar were exceptional though. This hotel was perfect for the price but I won't be returning again.

The hotel (woods) is a modern looking hotel, but the appearance was superficial. The hotel room was for 4 guests and was very basic, it had 3 towels, no table, no guest information, no telephone, no trouser press, only terestrial TV stations and no hot water. I have had better facilities in 2 star hotels. Our evening meal was not servered in the hotel. We had to go to the near by house hotel in the rain. The restrurant seem disorganised and took ten minutes to be seated, even though there were lots of clean unocupied tables. The food was hot and the waiter was very good with the kids. Later we went to the bar in the woods hotel, this was spacious and bright. The next morning we had breakfast in the woods hotel, the floor was sticky, bowls dirty and the food almost cold. We had two visits to the leisure center located a short walk from the hotel. The staff on the first visit said our kids were fine on there one if they could swim (13 and 11). The next day a very abrupt employee informed us that we must stay with children under 12 years. The staff in the hotel very lovely, very helpful and informative. I

The hotel gave me the impression of not been ready to recieved guests, as if it was unfinished. The place was in darkness when we arrived and the bar and restaurant were closed and still had ladders etc lying around. The staff didn't seem vert pleasant, I got the impression they weren't happy working there, overheard them discussing not having adequate time off. There was one exception to this which was a young guy, John, serving breakfast the following morning. He was cheerful, pleasant and very helpful and welcoming. The hotel could do so much better, the room photos on the website are a mix of those from the two different hotels on the Breaffy House Resort. The room we got was fine but not what we expected, it was more like an apartment with a kitchen sink in the room. The lifts were dirty, as if builders had just left. There was no residents bar in the evening, unless you walked to their other hotel. This might be ok if you were told in advance, however we were not. The hotel in the evening was completely deserted, everything was closed. We had to go to their other hotel for a coffee in the afternoon and were told we couldn't have bar food in the bar. There just seems to be something bot quite right with this place, it's more like a premier inn that you get on the motorways in the UK, thats absolutely fine, but the Breaffy woods is supposed to be something better, which it is not. In fact it could do worse than to take a few tips from the Premier inn.

I stayed at the Breaffy Woods Hotel with my family and I found the staff and food very good but I was very dissappointed with house keeping. We stayed in the new part of the hotel in room 2028, the carpets were filthy which was a major dissappointment as soon a we opened our room door. The lift was filthy, the walls were filthy and need to be cleaned let alone painted. the windows goin into the Gym need to be cleaned.. All this makes a huge first impression and I am not sure I would reccommend to anyone.

Had a fun weekend in the Breaffy Woods hotel, As we were a couple without the kids wanted to book The Breaffy House hotel, but was booked out due to a wedding. The facilities were very good, as was the food and the staff were terrific. My only gripe was the entertainment, as your out a bit from the town your kind of tied to the hotel, they had a kids disco in the Woods hotel both night (Expected as it is a family hotel), but the Entertainment in the House hotel was terrible on both nights, on Friday the DJ from Hell subjected us to Brendan Bowyer etc. and Saturday, the guy playing moved us from our seat sitting there all evening, and was so bad we were tempted to ask for the DJ.As we said the hotel great pity about the entertainment.

This hotel is the perfect get away for a family on a budget from check in we were welcomed by friendly polite staff, on entry to the room we were overjoyed at how clean and spacious the rooms were and with the facilities available in the room. The food was particularly good as was the pool area (unfortunately with 3 children I did'ent get to sample the spa). The best part of the holiday had to be the kids activities run every evening in the wood's bar they were top class (the kids club runs most of the day but my boys were not interested in oit). over all will defo be going back and just pray the weather will be a little bit kinder to us.

Very good hotel, staff friendly and helpful. Recommend for families as plenty to keep the kids happy, mines enjoyed the swimming pool and the mini golf was a hit too. Breakfast was very good with lots of options but did not sample the bar food, will do next time though because we will definately return, good value with lidl breaks!

We stayed at the breaffy woods hotel on the june bank holiday. we had a lovely stay. our room was spacious and clean but needs a little t.l.c. For anyone going there without kids , they would go mad as there is only one bar there and you had a kiddies disco on every night . you could stroll over to the bar ot the breaffy house hotel but not sure if there was any entertainment there apart from a wedding on the sat night. westport house and adventure park is about 10 mins away, well worth a visit .. I think a few swings and slide etc would be well recieved for the children on site at the hotel. grand football pitch for the men ! over all enjoyed the break !

Great Value for Money, beds and pillows excellent, as was the breakfast. But nonetheless the bar wasn't open on the Friday when we arrived, and no restaurant to eat dinner or a snack. Staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Had a swim in the pool and it was excellent, but was offsite as was Breaffy House Hotel where we would have to eat. Not keen on the bar in Breaffy House Hotel, too old for me. Anyway, we still enjoyed our stay but wouldn't return.

We stayed on the June Bank holiday weekend. We had stayed there last year and loved it. This year we were not disappointed, it was a wonderful break and within driving distance to many wonderful sites and museums. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Food was brilliant. We'll be back.

The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and the leisure centre was great ... even had a TV in the sauna! The rooms were big but the paint work is getting a little shabby - for such a new hotel. We were VERY disappointed with our eveing meal. The choice was limited and the food we ordered (Turkey & Ham and the Guiness Stew) were terrible. There was no atmosphere in the restaurant - it was more like a canteen. We wanted to go for a drink before our dinner but there was a kiddies disco on from 7.30-10pm in the bar. The hotel is more geared towards families with young children rather than couples wanting to relax! We walked over the the Breaffy House Hotel instead but there was a wedding on, so we were a bit out of place.

Antonia scored 5 / 5 on 08/06/2011

I was very happy with Breaffy Woods Hotel - I had been told that the grounds were beautiful, but that the hotel was disappointing. I was impressed with both. The rooms were generously proportioned, the restaurant and food were very good... and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I am hoping to return there very soon.

We stayed on the June bank holiday weekend and all I have is praise the staff were wonderful. When we got there we were upgraded to a 2 bed lodge which was fantastic. The kids club was briliant and my kids really enjoyed. The only downside is there is not a lot of activities aimed at teens but for younger kids its a fantastic hotel the fact that they had the bouncy castle was brilliant.

Martin scored 3 / 5 on 08/06/2011

Service in the restaurant of Woods hotel was first class. Even on busy bank holiday week-end delays to a minimum in the restaurant for breakfast and so efficient. Food good. The best part for us was the quality of the kids club, kids were kept engaged, not just a child minding service. Pool fantastic. The Breaffy House Hotel definitely could do with a lift. Was at a wedding there in 1996 and no changes since then.

This hotel was great value for money. We did not use the leisure facilities but they were excellent. The room was lovely. The bed double bed was a little on the small side but was very comfortable with nice duvets and covers. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was brilliant. No complaints and we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you lidl- It would be great if you could get more 4 star hotels and family rooms. Sharon

A very tired looking hotel . The room was in need of painting and teh walls were all cracked . We were unable to open window as water was running down side of window. The room was a family room which overall was good Hotel receptionist were so friendly and helpful . Had dinner in Breaffy house restaurants . Menu was extension however we had the rudest waitress ever , we had to wait 15 mins for a drink order to be taken. Food was ok portion were small. Over all a disappointing stay . the rude waitress really needs to get some customer care training

Ted scored 1 / 5 on 04/05/2011

I was disappointed with my stay in the Hotel. We had booked a 3 night stay but had to book out after 1 night. This was mainly due to the noise and activity in the hotel during the night. Also, a big factor was the hotel catering for a group from the Traveller Community who were both loud and rude to staff and other guests.

Mary scored 4 / 5 on 03/05/2011

I thought the hotel was lovely staff were brilliant and as a family hotel i would recommend it. The only fault i have was with lidl booking policy i didn't know that the deposit that was taken when booking online went to lidl and not the hotel so i felt cheated because of this i will not be booking with lidl again

Lidl breaks are really fantantic value for money. So much value in fact that I travel away for an overnight stay with dinner nearly once a month. The breaffy woods resort hotel Lidl break was excellent over the easter. The hotel staff are so so friendly and family centred at all times. Children are all treated with the highest regard and the entertainment for all the family is superb. The food was fab and the value for money on childrens meals is unbeatable. They even sell jugs of diluted squah in the evenings for children keeping the cost for parents to a minimun. It is a really great hotel for families and I would highly recommend it. Thevalue from lidl breaks makes itaccessable to all. Well done Lidl Lorraine

Even though the hotel was full of children as they had a week end for them, they did not bother us at all. we need our telly tuned in and the nice gentleman was at the door within 3 minutes, how is that for service!!. Thanks again for the wonderful week end, i will mark it as excellent. Top marks to the staff, they were so helpful, friendly and happy at all times during our stay. thanks again enjoyed it Noreen from Clare.

I stayed in The Breaffy Woods Resort over the Easter weekend with my husband and 8 year old son. We really had an enjoyable time, my son had a great time with the kids activities and the swimming pool. All in all it was great value with friendly helpful staff and I would reccommend it to any family.

Rate, **** Lovely room, lovely surroundings, staff very friendly and helpful, Great food. This is about our tenth Lidls break and my Wife and myself, find them up to now to be excellent value, This time in the Breaffy Woods Hotel we didn't have time to use the pool, but that will come in our next visit. Over all, these Lidl breaks are a great idea and excellent value for money, and as we intend to take full advantage of them in the comming months, long may they continue. Hi we spent 2 lovely days an nights in the Breaffy woods hotel on the oct. weekend,,We had a great time there, we have stayed in the Breaffy international a few times and enjoyed it ,, the service was very good ,the food in the restaurant very good and the staff were so nice, what we did not like was the kids playing around the toilets,,you felt that you could not use them, and then they were running around in the restaurant ,whitch i thought was very dangerous given the staff were going around with hot food, now dont get me wrong we had small childern ourselves so i know what its like trying to keep them quite, but in the restaurant i think they should have been made sit down ,,This will not put us off returing,,we will be back next year Ann Kiernan

We were moved to the Breaffy House hotel as they have no smoking rooms in the woods and dinner started too late. I told in September for my booking for November that we needed to eat at 6pm and wanted smoking rooms, only for i rang the week we were going to ensure all was ok they never would have informed me. The staff in the breaffy house were nice, the food ok, but we couldn't shower or wash or brush our teeth, the water was completely brown, they said it was because of the bad weather but that if a lie, they also said on checkout that they had tests done and that it was safe to use, who in their right mind would use it! Plus if they knew it was going to be brown and they had this problem investigated they could have at least warned us on check-in. Won't be back.

Acomadation was lovely. Clean and plenty of room. Shower curtain was about a foot short, so the floor was flooded every time the shower was used. We had dinner in the restaurant fri night at 9. When booking we werent told that this was the sitting or a bit late. But we had our 4 courses served up and eaten in an hr and 5 mins. There were no prawns or crostini left for the salmon and prawn crostini. This was explained to us not when ordering, or by a return visit to our table by the waitress. But when the starter was served. Salmon on a slice of brown bread..... I ordeed the turkey and ham for my main. Along with mash and veg. The last time i had mash that lumpy, was during the famine.... Half way through my meal i asked the waitress for some more gravy. She returned to tell me, "THER WAS NO GRAVY LEFT". I found that unbelievable. Im sure the hotel has an extensive kitchen and can cater for all occaisi

The food was very cold both mornings, and a young couple were located next to our room on saturday night. This was unacceptable as we have two young children and were woken by the noise from 3am to 5.30am. On the third call to reception they finally listened to our complaint.

Suzie scored 3 / 5 on 27/09/2010

It's a lovely hotel but it definately didn't feel like we were in a 4star hotel - much more like a 3 star. It lacked a few things which I would have liked - a bin in the bathroom, room service and pastries for breakfast to name a few. On top of that, it felt a bit like a 'ghost' hotel - very few guests and staff around especially mid week. So much so, that we had to check out in the neighbouring hote (Breaffy House Hotel)l as there were no staff in our hotel. If I'd done my research, I would have started in the Breaffy House Hotel as it seemed to have a restaurant that was open in the evenings and the leisure centre/swimming pool was also located in this hotel and we had to walk around from our hotel, to use it. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly, but I think I just expected a bit more!

2 star. We were supplied with two small bath towels and 1 hand towel, the room towels were to be used for swimming. There was notices posted towels would be replenished on request I requested more towels on arrival on Wednesday, they arrived late Friday p.m.. breakfast after 8.30 a.m was a nightmare, Thursday a.m. we were told there was a delay of up to 30 minutes so great was the demand , and the small size of the dining room. The cleaning standard were very poor. On the positive , the staff were very friendly and did their best under very trying circumstances. The price reflected the standard Agnes Kennedy

On check in there was a couple with 3 kids in front and the receptionist spent ages going through the facilities of both hotels with them. I wasn't listening as I presumed she would give me the same speal. Unfortunately, I was greeted with not a warm welcome and was pointed in the direction of the breakfast room and shown where the lift was to the room. There was notices in the lift adverting the best time to eat breakfast and that there would be a kids disco every evening. We found the room very spacious for a couple and a two year old. Although there was no fridge in the room, so we found it difficult to keep milk for the childs bottle chilled. Lookly we had a cooler box so we just got ice and kept it topped up. the woods bar didnt open till 4pm. Drinks were expensive and they didnt sell large bottles of minerals. The first night we had dinner in the Woods Bar, Lasgne & chips Steak and chips Nuggests and chips & Ice Cream. When we eventually got the order placed the food arrived very quickly, but just about warm. We were that hungry and the staff never came back and we couldnt get there attention we just ate it. But very disappointing. We got ice cream afterwards and that was exactly what we got ICE cream. There was ice lumps all over it. Poor experience and we didnt eat there again. The entertainment started and the kids had a ball, great entertainment. I didnt like the fact that there was venting machines all over the place with jars of sweets and crisps %u20AC2.00 a pop. It was a torture. The bedroom was exteremly warm and the one window didnt allow enough air into the room. The next morning we had breakfast at 8.15 as the signs everywhere said if you are down after 9am to expect long waits and queues. It was very unorganised, one small area to choose items from the buffet, which was very clustered. The cooked breakfast was grand and I asked for boiled eggs and there was no problem. We did have

Great value break. Rooms very spacious, hotel has lovely grounds. This hotel is VERY child friendly which is great if you have small children. Kids disco every evening in bar from 7.30 to 9.30 but unfortunately it just wasn't for us as our kids were slightly older. The bar and reception area in the older Breaffy House are nicer. Great family place though and a great price from Lidl.

Valerie scored 2 / 5 on 21/07/2010

The value of the Lidl Breaks is extremely good however I have to fault the hotel. We did not really enjoy our stay at all. I went with my other half for our first break away together but this hotel appears to be strictly family orientated. There is a kiddies disco ever night in the bar area from 7pm - 9pm so it was impossible to go for a drink after our meal due to the loud music, screaming kids and flashing lights. There is no bar food of any description served in the hotel, except for cocktail sausages which were available from 9pm - 10pm. Also we had to ask the bar to open at 2.45pm on Saturday so that we could get a drink, this took 10 mins before we got a yes to our request. The hotel is about 10 mins drive to get to the town centre and a taxi costs you at least %u20AC10. The pool in the above photos looks glorious but we were not brave enough to venture into it because every inch of it was swarming with groups of screaming children. This is not a hotel for couples and should definately be focused on family breaks specifically. Other hotels are known to be adult only or couples only hotels. Why not make this the first 'family only' hotel. The restaurant menu is 3-course for %u20AC19 which is very good value but the choice is quiet limited and the restaurant staff are used to quick turnover so you are not in there for very long. The food service in restaurant was operated on a 'voucher basis'. Breakfast or Dinner vouchers needed to be purchased from the reception area prior to dining. Sunday morning we went for breakfast at 9.30am and it was quite busy but we were given a table straight away (self service breakfast) but when we left the hotel at 11am, there were at least 6 different groups of people sitting in the lobby waiting to get a table in the restaurant - breakfast is scheduled to finish at 10.30am. As I said, this hotel was just not for a couple and we will probably not go there again. We drove up from Waterford fo
